A word from the Guest Editor
Hey Everyone, I’m Logan Lewis — noted friend of Micah, host of The Binge Boys Podcast and Plain and Simple, as well as a long-time subscriber of Micah’s Read of the Week. Micah invited me to guest edit for him this week & last week because he got married on the 15th.

Logan Recommends: Midnight Mass
I’ll start by saying that this show is not for everyone. It is very religious and in some ways, it shits on the Catholic Church in certain ways, so if you are super sensitive to church content, this mayyyy not be for you. This review will also NOT contain spoilers because the twists and turns this show takes you on are just too good to ruin for someone else.
That said, Midnight Mass is an absolute RIDE. The show doesn’t have any huge name actors, which always worries me about a project. The two most well known actors are Zach Gilford, best known for his role in the Friday Night Lights series as Matt Saracen & Hamish Linklater, best known for his role Matthew Kimble in The New Adventures of Old Christine. They’re not A-Listers, which means the show will be really good or really bad.
Midnight Mass leans towards the really good. The pacing of the 7 episode show is damn near perfect, each episode only progressing the story little by little, but enough to keep you coming back. The atmosphere set by the writers of the show is also noteworthy here, taking the first episode or two to really set the stage and introduce the town and it’s inhabitants.
Back to the actors at hand, the performances across the board are very good and very believable, most noteworthy is Hamish Linklater, who plays Father Paul. This performance will have me very upset if the man isn’t nominated for an award of some kind when award show season rolls around. It seems like he really studied the Catholic Church and knew what it took to be a priest. He embodied his character, sometimes I forgot I was watching a tv show. I grew up in a Catholic family, so the mass was damn near IDENTICAL to what I experienced as a kid.
It’s hard to talk about the show without taking spoilers so I will leave you here. It’s 7 episodes long, each clocking at around 1 hour a piece. If after the first episode you aren’t hooked, give it one more, I promise you, you will not be disappointed.
Midnight Mass is available on Netflix, now. Score: 5/5.
Which Succession Character Are You?
We are a couple episodes deep on Succession Season 3 and man, it really is not hard to like this show.
I think the best part of the show, is each character being their own person, rarely sharing characteristics as the next guy or gal. Each character is their own person and they don’t bend to anyone. Love it. HBO has an absolute GEM of a show.
I stumbled upon this Buzzfeed quiz, that I had a lot of fun with, Which Member Of The Roy Family From "Succession" Are You?
Ironically enough, I got Logan Roy. Im not sure if thats a good thing or a bad thing… but here we are. Take the quiz, Tweet at me and tell me what character you got, let’s talk about it.
Disney+ Day 2022: What to Expect!
This is the good stuff. In a few weeks, the same day I have to unfortunately get a crown put in, is going to be the best day of the year for me: Disney+ Day 2021.
On Friday November 12th, Disney is putting on a presentation to celebrate the good times we have had with Disney+ so far as well as show off what is coming in the next couple years. Man, I am so excited. Below, I am going to tell you what you can expect. There will likely be many announcements, behind the scenes features & trailers, so I will highlight the biggest of those, in no particular order, here:
Trailers for Announced 2022 Marvel Shows
Last year Kevin Feige took the stage and announced a boat-load of MCU content coming to the streaming service, and now I expect we will get trailers for the 3 announced shows for 2022: Ms. Marvel, She-Hulk & Moon Knight.
Trailers for Announced 2022 Star Wars Shows
Last year we got announcements for shows taking place in a galaxy far far away…. as well. I expect to get either full trailers for the upcoming Obi-Wan series as well as the series centering around Ahsoka. Not launching in 2022, but late December 2021 is The Book of Boba Fett, so I expect a full trailer for that series as well.
Same Day Additions
It has already been confirmed that on Disney+ Day, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings will be coming to the streaming service for free. Also on the same day, the dreaded Home Alone sequel/reboot entitled Home Sweet Home Alone, will release. The next season of The World According to Jeff Goldblum is also releasing the first 5 episodes, for all of us Jeff Goldblum Stans.
Unannounced Projects
This goes without saying, but Disney always has a trip or two up their sleeve. We've heard a lot of rumors lately about different Marvel movies or TV shows that haven't been formally announced, so maybe we get some confirmations or some denials on those rumors. We also haven't heard anything about the next iteration of the Star Wars movie franchise, so maybe we get an announcement on that front as well. Luca, the Pixar movie from this year, did really really well on Disney+, so I wouldn't be surprised if they announce that another one of their films will be coming to Disney+ as well as a theatrical release.
There is a ton of potential for November 12, so my expectations are set high and I know Disney will come through for me and the rest of it's fan boys out there. For in-depth discussion about everything Disney+ related, check out my podcast, The Binge Boys Podcast.
